Tallowmar, my story and why I chose beef tallow

Where Tallowmar Began

Hey! I'm Maris. I always have too many ideas going through my head at once. And when one of them finally gets a foothold, something like TALLOWMAR is born.

Entrepreneurship? Honestly, I had no idea what it was all about. But curiosity and a practical mind led me there. Not because I dreamed of a label with my logo, but simply because there was nothing on the store shelves that actually worked for my skin.

Why tallow?

We live in Estonia, where the wind is strong and the air is cold and dry; my skin is constantly dry and rough. After experimenting—mixing, melting, and even a bit of soap-making—I finally found something that actually worked: grass-fed tallowYes, the very same one that used to be in Grandma’s bathroom before we all disappeared into shampoo bottles. Sound a bit odd? Perhaps. But nature knows what it’s doing…

Tallowmar was born out of this need, for myself and my family. Then I thought there might be others looking for something like this: something simple that truly works. That is how my first handmade soaps and body butter came to be, free from any unnecessary ingredients.

Throughout all of this, I have received tremendous support from my partner, daughters, and friends. Special thanks also go to Melissa, who helped give my ideas a beautiful outfit and a little bow. It hasn’t been a "lone wolf" project, but rather a collaborative effort involving working and learning together and sometimes, the sound of a slightly agitated mixer whirring in the bathroom.

Tallowmar doesn’t want to be just “another skincare brand.” I want it to be an experience, a feeling that what you’re using was truly created with you in mind.
