DEXTER - tallow soap with lemon grass
Dexter was born for those who love a simple but uplifting fragrance. This is my beef tallow soap infused with lemongrass essential oil, it's a fresh, citrusy uplifting note for a morning shower or post-workout wash. The recipe is minimalist, the texture is silky and the foam is soft. Like its namesake, Dexter (a small, tough breed of cattle), this soap is like a little workhorse that does its job cleanly and reliably.
Why Choose Tallow Soap?
Few ingredients, a lot of care - the main raw material is tallow.
Gentle but effective - the foam washes clean without leaving too much "squeak".
One piece, several jobs - suitable for body and hair (see hair care trick below).
Plastic-free - the solid piece lasts a long time and only needs a soap dish.
Smell and character
Lemongrass - fresh, lemony, gently herbaceous. A "wake-up" in the morning and a mind-clarifier after training.
Lemongrass essential oil (Cymbopogon flexuosus)
The main components of lemongrass geranial (trans-citral) and neral (cis-citral) are associated antibacterial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory with activity; in addition there is small clinical trials in the context of aromatherapy (e.g. alleviating anxiety about dental procedures). In the soap it is a bright, lemony "wake-up", which is good for morning washing.
Typical allergens: Citral, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool
Use and care
Lather on damp skin or hair, rinse thoroughly.
For hair: if necessary, do an acid rinse (1-2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in 500 ml of water), especially during the transition period when coming from sulfate-free products.
Store soap on a soap dish with a grate; let the piece dry between uses, this way it will last significantly longer.
Ingredients (INCI):
Sodium Tallowate, Sodium Ricinoleate, Aqua, Glycerin (naturally formed during soap making), Cymbopogon Citratus Leaf Oil, Citral, Limonene, Geraniol
Eligibility and observations
Suitable for daily use on the body and hands; to hair according to tolerance.
If you have very sensitive or irritated skin, test on a small area - essential oils can irritate sensitive skin.
Due to the natural raw material, the shade and pattern may vary slightly from batch to batch.
Storage
Store in a dry and cool place, out of direct sunlight.
The scent is herbal and delicate; the intensity may naturally soften over time.
Shelf life 3 years
Combo/gift idea
Morning ritual: Dexter soap + unscented Simmental candle (pure flame).
After washing: with Galloway body butter locks in moisture and leaves the skin soft.
